One of the most interesting fact about tigers that canbe both beautiful and ferocious, and perhaps, this is the thing that makes them suchinteresting creatures. 1. Tigers are nocturnal animals - Tigers are not necessarily nocturnal, but most of their hunting takes place at night, which is why they are called nocturnal. The reason behind this is that Tigers generally avoid human conflict during daylight and patrol around their territory at night.
2. Tigers are the largest amongst other wild cats - Royal Bengal Tigers are the largest among the other wild cats but the lesser known fact is that the male tiger weighs up to 300 kilograms! It’s like similar to weighing a group of an average of six humans at once. All the wild cat had to do is sit on top of you, licking their paws and you’ll be dead instantly!!
3. A Punch from a Tiger may kill you - The Enormous body sizes of the tigers and their front hands and legs may kill a person or the animal or even break the bones in one go!!
4.Tigers love to swim and play in the water- A larger version of tigers loves to swim for hours, unlike the other domesticated cats. They even have the ability to kill in the water since the cubs, and female tigers encourage or help learn the art of hunting. And as adults, it is often said that they can swim for several kilometers.
5. A Group of Tigers is called an Ambush or Streak- Under man-made conditions, the Tigers are forced to share and stay put in unnatural situations, it’s when they are called anambush or streak, and even a tigress with her cub is called an ambush.
6. Tigers live for about 25 years- The Average life expectancy of a tiger is between 20-25 years, whether they are kept in the wild or in captivity. But, most of them die usually before the age of 20.
7. Tiger cubs are born blind and only half of the cubs survive- The Saddest part is that the tiger cubs are born blind and generally few of them survive after birth. The Cubs follow the scent of their mother and since they are born blind they usually die of hunger or cold. Also, some cubs are even eaten by male Tigers just to make the Tigress available for mating. That’s just insane!
8. Tigers have antiseptic saliva- Having antiseptic saliva, the tigers disinfect themselves when they get bruised or hurt by licking the infected area in order to prevent any kind of infection.
9. Tigers are humble towards their group and rarely roar- Tigers are one of the most humble species, unlike Lions. It is often seen in the wildlife that the male tigers allow the females and the cubs to eat first.
10. Tigers can sprint at over 60 kilometers/hour- Despite not being the fastest runner in the animal kingdom, Tigers possess very strong legs that make them sprint more or less than 60 km/h, but only for short distances.
11. Tigers can mate with other big cats- Tigers can also mate with other big cats for instance, if the male Tiger mates with the female lions then, the hybrid-born animal is known as Tigon whereas the mixed breed of the male lion and the female tiger is known as Liger.
12. Tiger stripes are also found on their skin- Most of the cat species have stripes on their fur as well as skin. Similar to human fingerprints, the unique patterns of the stripes on the tigers act as their identity. Even after the furs are shaved off still one can see their stripes.
13. Tigers prefer to hunt by Ambush- Commonly, the wild animals relish a surprise kill more but not as much as tiger. Due to their striped camouflage, they can easily hide behind the bushes and attack their victim from behind.
14. Tiger’s urine smell like buttered popcorn- One of the interesting facts is that the smell emitted from the tiger’s urine smells like buttered popcorn.
15. Tigers are solitary creatures- It is less likely that two or more tigers of the same age group will roam together in the wild, unlike in zoos. Tigers like to stay alone and are often seen wandering taking a leisurely walk all by themselves.
16. Tigers do not normally view humans as prey- Usually tigers attack humans only when they feel threatened. But, it is best to stay away from their territory. And, if someone gets caught by the tiger then it is best to walk backwards while constantly eyeing the tiger.
17. Tigers have a diverse diet- Having a varied diet, tigers can feast on anything which comes their way. Be it wild boar, rhino, deer, crocodile, fish, leopard, or anything and even their own group of cats!
18. Tigers can imitate the call of other animals- One more interesting fact about the big cats is they can mimic the call of other animals as well so as trap their prey.
19. Tiger’s Penis does not erect even when aroused- A Logical reason behind this is that an internal extra-baculum or a penis bone does not work at all. It is present in all mammals and primates, drifting at the end of the penis.
20. Tigers cannot purr- Tigers do make other loud voices but they cannot purr.
