Nawegaon Nagzira National Park or Nawegaon Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Gondia and Bhandara districts of Maharashtra. This sanctuary, rich in biodiversity, is connected to the Kanha, Pench, and Tadoba Tiger Reserves. Located in the northeastern corner of the state, it is approximately 119 km from the major city of Nagpur. Known as a "Green Oasis" in eastern Maharashtra, the sanctuary plays a vital role in biodiversity conservation. Covering an area of 152.41 sq. km, Nagzira is a haven of natural beauty, featuring stunning landscapes and lush vegetation. It serves as a living outdoor museum, offering visitors a chance to explore and appreciate the wonders of nature. Nagzira is an incredible and priceless natural treasure, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in its breathtaking scenery, clean air, and serene environment. It is a critical conservation area for Central India, particularly the Vidarbha region, and functions as a "green lung" for nearby human settlements, helping to maintain ecological balance.

A trip to Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is incomplete without a Jeep Safari, which offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the sanctuary’s natural beauty and diverse wildlife. The sanctuary is primarily divided into two zones: the Chorkhamara Zone and the Umarzari Zone, each with designated entry gates. Chorkhamara Zone can be accessed via Gate 1 or Gate 2, while Umarzari Zone is entered through Pitezari Gate, which is the most popular choice among tourists for wildlife viewing. The two zones are about 14 km apart, and both offer exciting perspectives of the sanctuary.

The Chorkhamara Zone is especially recommended for its rich biodiversity and frequent wildlife sightings. Visitors can spot animals like Dholes, bison, and sambar, along with a variety of bird species, making it perfect for nature lovers. Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is also less crowded, allowing tourists to enjoy a peaceful and tranquil retreat.

Flora - Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is predominantly covered by dry deciduous forests, showcasing a remarkable variety of plant species. The sanctuary is home to numerous trees, such as Teak, Tendu, Ain, Garari, and Bamboo. Alongside these, the park is adorned with a mix of shrubs, grasses, climbers, and medicinal plants, further enriching its vegetation.

Fauna - Nagzira is home to many rare and endangered species. Among insects, one can find butterflies like the Common Rose, Common Mormon, Lime Butterfly, Common Sailor, Common Indian Crow, and Black Rajah. The mammals here include tigers, leopards, jungle cats, small Indian civets, palm civets, wolves, jackals, sloth bears, honey badgers, giant flying squirrels, gaurs, four-horned antelopes, mouse deer, and pangolins. Reptiles such as the Indian rock python, cobra, Russell’s viper, checkered keelback, and common monitor lizard are also common. Additionally, the sanctuary is home to unique frogs and toads, including tree frogs, bullfrogs, six-toed frogs, and the rare Ramanella Montana.

Avifauna - The bird population in Nagzira includes 15 types of migratory birds and around 42 species that move locally. Additionally, 13 bird species here are endangered, including peafowl and those from the "Accipitridae" family.

Chulbandh Dam - Chulbandh Dam is situated along the Chulbandh River and serves as a perfect spot to soak in the beauty of nature. With a storage capacity of 21,452 cubic meters, the dam stretches about 465 meters in length and stands 22.08 meters tall. It’s an excellent place for a leisurely walk or a family picnic.

Itiadoh Dam - The Itiadoh Dam is built on the Gadvi River near Arjuni Morgaon in the Gondia district. It plays a vital role in agriculture, supporting irrigation for approximately 1,90,000 hectares of farmland. This dam benefits the districts of Gondia, Gadchiroli, and Bhandara by providing water for paddy cultivation. Constructed in 1970, the dam is a combination of gravity and earth-fill design and is situated about 85 kilometers from Gondia.

Navegaon National Park - Navegaon National Park is located in the southern region of Gondia district, in the eastern part of Maharashtra, covering an area of 133.78 sq. km. It features a variety of vegetation, ranging from dry mixed forests to moist forests. The park is home to a range of wildlife, including tigers, panthers, jungle cats, small Indian civets, palm civets, wolves, and jackals. Visitors can explore an interpretation center, a small museum, and a library within the park. For wildlife observation and photography, there are seven watch cabins and five watchtowers available.

Hazara Falls - Hajra Waterfall, situated in the Dhanegaon area of Maharashtra, is a beautiful natural spot. At the base of the waterfall, a pool forms, making it a favourite location for picnics and swimming. The waterfall is especially breathtaking during the monsoon season when the flow of water is at its peak.

Tibetan Camp - The Tibetan Camp in Gondia provides a Tibetan cultural experience up close. From their unique lifestyle to their distinct crafts, everything is fascinating and worth exploring. The camp is located approximately 60 kilometers away, about a two-hour journey from Nagzira Sanctuary.
